After the worldwide success of Ten Minute Tales (well - one member of our writing group lives in Britain, so I'd say we're pretty global!), Victoria Point Writers have decided to put together a new anthology. Tales with a twist this time - with a word limit, rather than a time limit. Okey dokey then. Hmmm....twisted.....
Right well I've written one and sent it off to my writer buddies for their critiques. One replied, saying that the twist was obvious from the beginning (so - no twist then), another replied saying that she felt sure there was a twist, but wasn't sure what it was (so - no twist then) and a third friend replied that she thought there was going to be a certain twist, but then it turned out to be another twist, although she felt that the twist would have worked better if I'd twisted the twist back on itself and in fact the story ended with very little in the way of a twist after all. (So.....no twist then).
Maybe this is God's way of telling me that I'm just not a twisted person..?? Or more probably, that writing tales with a clever ending are beyond me. Ah well - back to the drawing board.....
Oh and in the meantime, if you'd like to have a read of Ten Minute Tales (and please do, it's fun, quick and FREE!) head to www.smashwords.com.
