I don't know about you, but I love a good road trip! And tomorrow, I'll be leaving Brisbane's beautiful Bayside and driving the first leg of a 970km journey to Mackay.
Tomorrow's trek will be as far as Hervey Bay - around 300km so a nice easy wander up the highway and we're all booked in to a little place in town tomorrow night.
A good rule of thumb is - the further north you go, the warmer it gets (the opposite of Wales!) So - what to pack? It's Springtime in Australia and that means lots of blue sky, maybe a few thunderstorms, the odd rainy day - and definitely oodles of sunshine. Right. So I've got my big-brimmed hat, a pair of sunnies (does anyone else have a terrible track record with sunglasses? I'm forever sitting on mine, dropping them, losing them etc, which is why I always buy cheapies), my swimmers, a couple of sarongs....um a dress for possible forays away from the beach, my ipad, portable modem, (no wi-fi where I'll be staying. Eeek!) Solar keyboard, notebook, phone, collection of pens....ah yes..most important...sunscreen...er toothpaste etc. Oooh and my debit card - for all the fabulous e-books I'll be downloading from Amazon, Kobo and Really Blue Books!
Oooh yes, road trips to new places are the business!
